Choose Your Level Of Security
12/07/2013 Back To BlogLet’s face it, besides looking good and enhancing curbside appeal, one of the main reasons you consider a residential gate installation is that it provides a measure of safety and security. Gates let you control who enters your property. It’s with that in mind that we turn to the big question: what’s the safest type of entry system?
The number one choice: videocom
If you want to be really safe, get a videocom system. Unlike a traditional intercom installation, a videocom gives you complete control over who you let into your home. You get to hear and see the person you’re admitting entry to. The only downside is that you, or a member of your family, must approve each guest personally. With keypads or card swipe systems, there’s no bother to the homeowner. It’s up to each customer to decide how much they value security over not being bothered.
An intercom, such as a DoorKing intercom, is a solid decision as well. It’s a good alternative for those who can’t stomach the expense of a videocom system. You still get the benefit of personally approving everyone who comes to your gate.
Other options
Other options include a remote system, such as a multicode remote, a keycard swipe system, and a keypad. Keypads can be great if you expect a lot of foot traffic; it’s a lot easier to give out a code than it is to physically get someone a card. On the other hand, if you have a list of people who are specifically invited or come over a lot, a key card swipe system can be perfect. Just remember to have 24/7 emergency service so that no matter what option you pick, you’ll always be covered if something goes wrong – just in case you need the help.
